Middle School Summer Enrichment and Tutoring
Middle School Program (grades 6-8)
Our Middle School program is designed to encourage increasing levels of independence in pre-teen and early adolescent students. Students are assigned to a grade-level homeroom class and then rotate from one subject to the next. Changing classes allows students the opportunity to experience and respond for the first time to diverse teaching styles and expectations in preparation for the future learning environments of high school and college.
Class sizes in middle school are generally limited to18 students to help ensure the level of instructional excellence we strive to achieve. Students are actively engaged in learning the core academic subject areas of Bible/Christian World View, Language Arts (reading and grammar), Math, History, Health, and Science. Additionally, instruction is provided in physical education, art, music, computer applications, and foreign language as elective classes by grade level.
As with elementary school, the curriculum used in the school portrays the world from a Christian world view. It is Biblically sound, as well as educationally challenging. Textbooks are a resource used to support the implementation of our curriculum and may change from time to time as we seek to refine and improve our program. The current publishers used in the various subject areas are as follows:
- Bible – ACSI
- Reading – novel studies by grade level
- Grammar and Composition - ABeka
- Math – Glencoe
- History/Social Studies – ABeka
- Science and Health – Glencoe & ABeka
Because of the unique nature of this program in comparison to our others, there are some policies and procedures that are specific to middle school. They are listed here for your information in alphabetical order and are to be followed in addition to the other academic and general policies by all middle school students.
