Honor Code and Discipline Policy

Discipline is an important Christian virtue and is expected of all of our students.  Cheerful obedience to those in authority is the standard our Lord has set for us and will be the standard at our school.  The school rules exist to inform students and parents of the expected behavior standards and the consequences for failure to meet those standards.  Each year, families and students sign a copy of the honor code and school rules to indicate their understanding of them and their commitment to follow them.  These rules are posted in every classroom and will be taught and reinforced with regularity.  The school rules and consequences for First Baptist School are as follows:

Because God tells us to act and think like His Son, Jesus, at First Baptist School we will:

  1. Show respect. (1 Peter 2:17)
  1. Listen and obey(Titus 3:1)
  1. Use language and actions that are pleasing to the Lord (Prov. 20:11, Ps. 19:14)
  • Show self control (Galatians 5:22-23, Titus 1:8)
  • Use kind, polite words (Proverbs 15:1)
  1. Be honest in words and actions (Deuteronomy 5:20, Ephesians 4:25)
  1. Be good neighbors by:
  • Forgiving others (1 Thessalonians 5:15)
  • Being kind (Ephesians 4:32)
  • Being generous (Proverbs 22:9, 1 Timothy 6:18)
  • Cooperating (Romans 14:19)
  1.  Come to school ready to work and learn  (Col. 3:23, 1 Thes. 4:11-12)

The consequences for choosing to not follow these standards each day are:

  • A verbal warning to change my behavior.
  • Loss of personal free time, either during recess or after school.
  • Removal from class to the office, and a conversation between me, the principal and my parents.

Because a student’s unwise and disruptive conduct impacts everyone around him or her, repeated removal to the office will result in suspension and/or expulsion from First Baptist School of Laurel.
